I've spent my whole life studying how bodies move.

I'm Sarah Wingo — personal trainer, dance educator, and former professional dancer based in New York City.

I've been a professional trainer for over 14 years, working with clients across every level of fitness — from complete beginners to elite performing artists. Before that, I spent 15 years as a professional dancer, which gave me a perspective on the body that no certification could replicate. I understand what it means to use your body as a tool, to push it hard, to care for it, and to rebuild it when things go wrong.

Today I bring that experience to every client I work with — as faculty at the Alvin Ailey School and Dance Theatre of Harlem, where I teach dance conditioning to some of the most gifted young dancers in the world, and in my private training practice, where I work with people who are simply trying to feel better in their bodies and stay well for the long term.

My approach is rooted in corrective exercise and functional movement. I believe deeply that fitness is personal — that there is no single right answer, no one program that works for everyone, and no shortcut worth taking. What there is, is patience, creativity, and the willingness to meet each person exactly where they are.

I've trained some of my clients for over twelve years. That's not something I take lightly. It happens when people feel genuinely seen and cared for — when training becomes less about the workout and more about the relationship.

Sometimes we need to push ourselves to the next level. And sometimes just showing up counts. I want fitness to be a long-term part of your life — not something you do for a season and abandon. There are a million ways to reach a muscle if you have a creative and patient approach. Nothing is impossible.

As a choreographer, Sarah has created work for The Alvin Ailey School and served as a contributing choreographer on Dance Theatre of Harlem's Harlem Mouse/Country Mouse ballet. She choreographed for the Tamron Hall 2024 Holiday Show featuring students from the Dance Theatre of Harlem School, and has taught master classes across the country at institutions including the Philadelphia School of the Arts, Rutgers University, Oklahoma City University, and the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.

On screen, Sarah has appeared in multiple episodes of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and national commercials for Samsung, Geico, Pillsbury, Rockport Shoes and CNN's NYE 2019 with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen. Her print work includes athletic campaigns for Beachbody, Kohl's, Fila Shoes, and Shaun T, alongside lifestyle and luxury campaigns for Cartier, The Carlyle Hotel, and Wells Fargo.
